Price impact is the change caused by the size of your trade relative to available liquidity. Thin pools produce more price impact. Slippage tolerance sets how far execution may move from the displayed quote. If output would fall below the minimum, the transaction reverts. Higher slippage can increase execution probability but also increases exposure to adverse price movement and MEV. Start conservatively and avoid increasing slippage simply to force a suspicious token trade through.
